In addition to fire suppression and other emergency response services, we are proud to take a proactive stance in preventing fires. The Peters Township Fire Department takes a very active role in programs with all Township Schools, Daycares, and Pre-School facilities, as well as health care facilities. Firefighters visit these facilities on a regular basis to conduct fire drills, safety and prevention programs, as well as the Township Community Day and other community events.
Our new Fire Safety House to teach fire prevention and how to safely escape from a fire has been delivered. It will allow us to continue our program of teaching all school and day care students fire safety. This new Fire Safety House is a joint purchase with the North Strabane Fire Department, and our share was funded by the Peters Township Chamber of Commerce and their Annual Fire Department Golf outing. Thanks to our Chamber for their ongoing support and look for our new Safety House soon.
In addition to our fire prevention programs, Peters Township Fire Department is a child safety seat fitting station. Certified technicians are available by appointment to check car seats for incorrect installation and recall issues. Also offered, are residential fire and safety inspections, which include instruction in placement of smoke alarms, CO detectors, and fire extinguishers along with general safety concerns and instructions on conducting family fire drills.
