Valley Brook Road/Bebout Road
PennDOT’s contractor, A. Folino Construction, Inc. has informed the Township that full road closures and detours to accommodate the construction of the roundabout at Bebout/Valley Brook are set to begin in April 2023 and last through Fall 2023. Utility relocations for the project are set to begin on or about March 1, 2023 and will involve single lane closures with flaggers.
Closures and detours, as set by PennDOT, will be in effect throughout the project. The two documents linked below provide more detail on the project.
PennDOT Announcement - February 28, 2023
PennDOT District 12 is announcing weekday daylight single-lane restrictions are scheduled to occur on Route 1010 (Bebout Road) at the intersection with Valley Brook Road in Peters Township, Washington County. Weekday daylight single-lane restrictions, controlled by flaggers, will begin on Wednesday, March 1 and occur through the end of March, weather and operational dependent.
A contractor for Pennsylvania American Water Company will perform work to relocate a water line in advance of the Valley Brook Road and Bebout Road Intersection Improvement Project.
The $2.3 million Valley Brook Road and Bebout Road Intersection Improvement Project will involve the replacement of the existing three-way stop controlled "T-Intersection" with a roundabout, drainage, bituminous paving, signage, lighting, guiderail, and utility relocations. Valley Brook Road serves as a primary commuter connection to Route 19 and the larger Pittsburgh region. During peak times, the intersection experiences substantial congestion from the surge in commuter traffic. Because the intersection experiences significant delays during peak times, the purpose of the project is to relieve congestion and enhance access to the Arrowhead Trail parking lot, by constructing a single-lane roundabout at the intersection. The contractor for this project is A. Folino Construction. The project is anticipated to be completed in Fall of 2023.

PA American Water Projects
Jomat Drive, Longvue Drive, West Edgewood Drive & Brookdale Circle
Pennsylvania American Water Company (PAWC) has informed Peters Township that they will be completing water main replacement projects on Jomat Drive, Longvue Drive, West Edgewood Drive, and Brookdale Circle in 2023. The work is anticipated to begin in late-winter/early-spring and last several months. The work is in the pavement and will therefore have the potential for minor traffic delays. All questions regarding project specifics should be directed to PAWC.
Columbia Gas Projects
Golfview Drive & Circle Drive Areas
Columbia Gas has notified the Township of a large gas main replacement project planned for 2023 in the Golfview Drive – Circle Drive area of the Township. Most of the work is off of the pavement and in yards, but, some will be in the pavement. It is expected to start in January 2023 and last through the fall of 2023.
Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC has recently made the Township aware of an upcoming project on Turkeyfoot Road that involves repairs to one of its existing transmission lines. As a result of the work, Columbia will be closing Turkeyfoot Road to through traffic during working hours, but, opening the road back up to full access at night. The road will be barricaded at the work zone (near 130 Turkeyfoot – see map link below) and a detour established for the duration of the project. Local residents will have access to their homes at all times, but, may experience minor delays if equipment or materials are being moved along the roadway during working hours.
Currently, Columbia Gas anticipates beginning the project sometime around late-February or early-March and that it will take approximately three (3) weeks to complete. However, this is subject to change. Columbia will be erecting advanced notification signs along the roadway approximately one (1) to two (2) weeks prior to the actual start.
Thank you for your patience during this important project.
