Commercial Permits

Welcome to Peters Township!  We are happy that you have selected our Township to open your new business.  This site is designed to help you meet the Township requirements before you open for business.

Permit Fees

Chapter 195 of the Township Code of Ordinances provides each of the fees associated with the Planning Department's permits.  View Township Ordinance No. 920 for more information.

Permit Applications

All Building, Zoning, Fence, and Demolition permits are required to be accompanied by a plot plan and/or survey that includes the entire scope of work, drawn to scale.

Peters Township is using SDL as our permit software.  Permits will be submitted through an online portal.  Please use the SDL Portal to start your application.

If you are leasing space and you will not be making any structural changes to the space, you will need to complete a Certificate of Occupancy Permit through the SDL Portal.  The fee for this permit is $105.

This permit application will be reviewed for zoning requirements.  Once the zoning review is completed, you will need to schedule inspections with our building and fire departments.  When you have successfully met all building and fire requirements, your occupancy certificate will be issued and you will be ready to open for business.

If you plan on making structural changes to the space, you will need to complete a Commercial Alteration Permit through the SDL Portal.  Fees for this permit will be determined based on the scope of work.  This permit review process will take 20-30 business days.

Third-Party Inspectors

Certain building inspections are required to be conducted by a third-party. These include electrical, energy compliance, and exterior sanitary inspections required for all commercial and new residential construction. Peters Township maintains a list of those inspection agencies that are permitted to conduct these inspections with contact information for the convenience of our applicants. A list of all inspections, including those that must be conducted by a third-party, is provided with all issued building permits.

Plan Reviews

Peters Township currently has an agreement with Code-sys to conduct Uniform Construction Code (UCC) plan reviews for certain Building Permit applications. When Planning Staff receives an application for any Commercial project, construction documents are forwarded to Code-sys for review. UCC reviews for new single-family dwellings and all other projects are done in-house by Peters Township staff.
